Union Win! USA News. ILA victory in protecting work jurisdiction
Your support combined with the tireless efforts of ILA
members and ITF affiliate unions means that dockworkers can continue to carry
out work in the port they have operated for over 100 years.
The eight month campaign, which
included thousands of letters from activists to key stakeholders at
Ørsted and Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont, as well as global days of action
and ILA strikes, came to an end this week after a direct intervention from
Governor Lamont.
Paddy Crumlin, ITF President, said
"This victory sends a clear message to employers worldwide: respect
workers' rights and engage in genuine dialogue".
Thank you
for your support.
This win demonstrates the power of collective action in securing workers' rights
and would not have been possible without your solidarity.
Transport
workers have a critical role to play if we are to achieve sustainability
targets.
The ITF look forward to working with
Ørsted in New London, and across their supply chain, to achieve a just
transition, ensuring that workers and unions are central to transforming
industry to greener alternatives.
In solidarity,
The ITF Campaigns Team
