Tran siidikeskuse AS acquires Rail Garan t Estonia

As the result of a sales-purchase contract concluded on Thursday, the Tran siidikeskuse AS compan y will start building the Muuga container terminal that has caused a lot of disputes an d han dling container flows of Rail Garan t, LETA/Public Broadcasting reports.
Tran siidikeskus did not agree to reveal the price of the tran saction of buying Rail Garan t Estonia OÜ.
The compan y Tran siidikeskus acquired has building rights in the Muuga port which enables Tran siidikeskus to start expan ding its terminal activities an d increasing production capacity.
"According to the decision of the council of port of Tallinn, the deadline for completion of the new container terminal has been postponed by 12 months, to July 2014. We will build the first stage of the terminal an d start operating it," saiud Tran siidikeskuse AS board chairman Erik Laidvee.
He added that this will increase their production capacity at first by 150,000 TEU a year which enables to han dle also cargo volumes promised by Rail Garan t. One of Russia's biggest logistics compan ies, Rail Garan t Grupp, will continue as operator of the new terminal after its completion.
Tran siidikeskuse AS Muuga container terminal han dled 224,721 TEU of containers in 2012.
