Government rejects negotiating with the stevedores
Dockers cancel strike
The stevedores admit the return to strike as a protest against the new rules of the port work.

With the new rules of the port work published today in the Official Gazette, the unions representing longshoremen will, for now, proceed with a request for successive control to the Constitutional Court and even a complaint to the International Labour Organisation.

Vitor Dias, president of the Union of Dockers also complains that the government is promoting unemployment: "The fact that we suspended the strike does not mean that relinquished the fight. The fight continues and we have several ways of doing even the strike, was never ruled out. Now, we focus on the fight at this point in the three fields, legal, political and union. "

The law, published today in the Official Gazette, has been the subject of great controversy. At the end of last year followed up strikes by longshoremen, paralyzing many national ports for months, with advance notice to be canceled however at the end of the year.

Victor Dias also criticized the fact that, on the day of publication of the law, and contrary to the guarantees made to the stevedores, there have been only 18 redundancies at the Port of Liboa.

Is there any chance of an update from NISC? Where do we stand with PP3, Dock Regs etc.?
