Ventspils Port increased cargo turnover by 15% in 2011

In 2011, Ventspils Port handled 28.5 million tons of cargo, which is 15% when compared to 2010, as the port's spokesperson Inga Ievina informed LETA.

In 2011, Ventspils Port handled 15 million tons of liquid cargo (seven% increase year-on-year), nearly 11 million tons of bulk cargo (25% increase) and a bit over 2.5 million tons of general cargo (26% increase).

Oil products accounted for the largest share of Ventspils Port's cargo turnover last year. The port handled 14.5 million tons of oil products (eight% increase), almost seven million tons of coal (81% increase), and around three million tons of mineral fertilizers (18% increase).

In December 2011, Ventspils Port handled 2.5 million tons of cargo, which is 26% more when compared to December of 2010.

The port handled 1.2 million tons of liquid cargo, 1.1 million tons of bulk cargo and 180,000 tons of general cargo December.
