Cargo turnover grows at Klaipeda Port

Cargo turnover grows at Klaipeda Port; Latvian and Estonian ports register decreases in 2 months

Compared to the corresponding period of 2012, cargo turnover grew 15.8 percent at the Port of Klaipeda and the Butinge oil terminal in January-February 2013; the Port of Tallinn and Latvian ports recorded a 4.9% decrease, according to "Nozare.lv" statistics, writes LETA.

The largest decrease in cargo turnover was registered at the Freeport of Riga – 11.6%.

The Freeport of Ventspils recorded a 2% increase, the Port of Liepaja  a 5.5% drop.

Lithuania was also the leader in terms of cargo turnover in January-February 2013. 

The Port of Klaipeda handled 7.73 million tons in the first two months of 2013,
the Freeport of Riga – 5.47 million tons,
the Freeport of Ventspils – 5.46 million tons,
the Port of Tallinn – 5.38 million tons,
the Port of Liepaja – 972,000 tons.
